Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Formally classified as Brunello di Montalcino, this attractive red wine from Tuscany offers ripe aromas of black fruit and cherry followed by thickly concentrated layers of chocolate, espresso and spice. It has sweet, cherry tannins and a plush, succulent feel. “Il Duemilatre” achieved minor cult status following fraud scandals that caused this wine to lose its Brunello status.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From one of the most beautiful and historic estates in Montalcino, Argiano’s Brunello is redolent of cherry, cassis, exotic spice, smoke and very tame, delicate oak notes of toasted vanilla. The wine is bright and polished with firm tannins and some sour cherry nuances on the close.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Full and open on the nose, showing fresh herbs, crushed berries and damp earth. A fruity wine, with plum and cherry carried on a chewy, clean frame. Good and generous, with just enough complexity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
L’O is designed as a lean, approachable wine and consequently delivers cherry cola, lightly toasted nut and pencil lead. It is thorny and nervous at times but comes together nicely in the mouth.

Suolo is 100% Sangiovese and this is one of the best vintages ever for this delicate, feminine wine. The purity and intensity of its aromas are outstanding and the wine’s complexity makes it a pleasure to contemplate over a long meal. There’s a distinctive Brunello-like touch to its soul.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tobacco, earth and tree bark make for a bouquet that doesn’t hit you over the head. Still, it has red fruit galore. The palate is tight, ripe and chock full of proper acidity and tannins. A lively wine with vanilla and oak coming on late. Solid stuff. Imported by Vias Imports.

Solengo is a masterfully crafted super Tuscan blend of Petit Verdot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with seamlessly integrated wood notes that form a modern and proud personality. Aromas include black cherry, exotic spice and chocolate and the wine’s flavors are enduring and smooth. Cellar it for five more years at least.
