Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Crispness and dryness mark this elegant young Pinot Noir. It feels silky, almost delicate in the mouth, but with powerful cherry, pomegranateand cola flavors. Should develop for up to six years in the bottle.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Good blackberry, cherry, cola and pomegranate flavors in this rich, dry wine, but it’s also tight in tannins and brisk in acidity. Too hard and unsupple for drinking now. Give it 4–5 years to change in the bottle.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lots of zesty acidity in this Pinot Noir, giving the pomegranate, rhubarb, red cherry and licorice flavors a bright edge. The wine is very dry and complexly layered. Interesting now, if a bit primary in fruit, and balanced enough to develop additional nuances over the next six years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A challenging wine. It’s rather strong and dry and extracted now, lacking delicacy, and makes you want to stick it in the cellar for a while. Yet there’s a certain hollowness that may limit ageability. If you drink it now, give it a good decant.

Although this isn’t one of Arista’s single-vineyard bottlings, it’s right up there with them, offering rich flavors and a lovely structure. It’s dry and silky, with brisk acidity backing raspberry, cherry and sandalwood flavors, and an earthy hint of balsam-splashed beefsteak tomato. Drink now–2013.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With rich, spicy raspberry, cherry, tangerine zest and sweet cola flavors, wrapped into a silky texture, this is a pretty, polished Pinot to drink now. Zesty acidity makes for a mouthwatering crispness. Good with ahi tuna tartare.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Feels a bit heavy now, with direct flavors, like cherry and chocolate cream pie filling without the crust. However, there are suggestions that aging will benefit. The tannins are thick, and the acidity is good enough to carry the wine through some evolution. Try after 2011.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a seriously good Pinot. It’s easy to imagine drinking it at a great restaurant, with a fabulous steak. The tannin-acid structure is just perfect, and the texture is silky. Yet tasted at the age 18 months, it’s a bit heavy in jammy cherries and raspberries, which suggests aging. Try holding off until 2011–2015.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The vineyard is in the warmest corner of the valley, almost into Dry Creek, and the wine in its youth is a bit heavy. But it’s quite rich and complex, showing flavors of currants, mocha, espresso, oranges, cola and peppery spice. Nice now, with a good steak, and could easily develop over the next 8 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a big, rich Pinot Noir, showing the ripeness of the vintage. It’s delicious in primary fruit flavors and oak, but too thick and immature to drink now. With its flamboyant raspberries, cherries, licorice, bacon and smoky sandalwood, it should evolve into quite an interesting wine after 2011, if you can keep your hands off it.
