Smoky and dry, with aromas of tire rubber and mildly herbal, leafy red fruits. The palate has a dry, rugged, scratchy feel while the flavors veer toward baked raspberry, earth notes and coffee. Finishes nicely, with berry fruit at first and then herbal, oaky afternotes.

After an initial blast of raw oak this Ribera settles nicely to show appealing leather and berry aromas along with savory blackberry and molasses flavors. There’s also ample spice, chocolate and toast to give it a dark personality. Nice for a young wine; it’s flush, lush and quite dense.

On the verge of heavy, but good in a stocky, straightforward way. Blackberry and chocolate lead, and the body leans toward weighty but doesn’t go entirely heavy. A good, fuller-bodied selection with toast and tannin on the back end.

Seductive like a trap, meaning the nose is lush and full of bacon, cola and blackberry, yet the palate is tannic and shows some serious teeth. The fruit is bold and ripe, and the structure dictates that it be drunk with hearty foods like steak, lamb or burgers.
