In their quest to preserve some of the traditional grapes of Champagne, the Aubry brothers have added Arbanne and Petit Meslier to Chardonnay for this Blanc de Blancs. The result is a wine that has richness, with the fruit flavors of quince, green plum and tomato adding to minerality. It’s very structured as well as rich.

This blend of Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Petit Meslier, Arbanne, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay must be one of the most complex blends in Champagne. It is very different and its flavors are exotic and spicy, hinting at tropical. There is a haunting perfume to the aromas, while the palate is intensely structured. For the adventurous.

Vintage 2002 is turning out to be a great year in Champagne, and this wine is a reflection of that. Made from the heart of the pressing, it starts crisp and creamy. But then the power of the year shows through with its depth of flavor, yeast and apples, and a fine mineral structure, offering aging potential.

Sand (sable) is indeed the color of this palest of rosés. The style is intense, as much wine as sparkling wine, flavored with raspberries and red currants, and some pear spice. It is definitely for food, with its acidity and fine freshness.

Raspberry pink in color, this is in the celebratory style of rosé, all red berry fruits and summer days. The balance is just right, the extra richness of a rosé teaming well with the acidity.

A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, this softly rich wine has fine, ripe fruit, flavors of cinnamon and almonds, as well as the structured edge of apple skins and lime. It’s still young, needing time for the structure to soften, but already impressively complex.

This family-owned grower is based in Jouy-lès-Reims at the western end of the Montagne de Reims. The two brothers, Pierre and Philippe, have produced a soft, balanced wine from premier cru vineyards, which is tantalizingly poised on the knife edge between freshness and richness. Apples and cream flavors round the wine very satisfactorily.
