Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
As this wine hits prime age, it’s showing cumin and other Middle Eastern spice notes. The flavor profile deals raspberry, plum and some mushroom, while the feel is tight as a drum, which is impressive given that the wine is 10 years old and counting. Drink now through 2010.

Heavy and earthy, with more pepper and moss than brightness. In the mouth, there’s black cherry, dark plum and tobacco flavors, while the feel is dictated by stern tannins. Overall it’s a fairly serious wine but it doesn’t offer the love that we’d like to see. With 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 12,500 cases made.

Features a nice mix of mint, herbs, spice and black fruit. It’s a touch sharp and hard, but overall the cherry and strawberry flavors work. Tannic and clean on the finish, with balance. Nothing complex or regal, but easily fits the bill. Imported by Think Global.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Quite dry and woody, with old-school dill and sawdust aromas. The palate also runs dry and mature, but only at first. Later red fruit, vanilla, mocha and leathery accents come up and make themselves noticed. More traditional in style as it steers clear of any overt richness and weight.

Makes a great early impression via ripe blackberry and toast aromas. Overall there’s not much negative to say about this meaty, fruity youngster; it has a lovely color, dark cherry and blackberry flavors, and warm vanilla and chocolate notes on the finish. Becomes more tannic and chunky as it opens; but as an easy drinker it’s very good.
