Nuanced and meek? Not so much. This is a full on, knock-you-out Shiraz, big in flavor and size. Meaty mixed plums are dusted with white flour; on the nose, there are deep blackberry and eucalyptus aromas.

The Ress wines are made for early drinking, as this fragrant wine shows. It has aromas of cherry blossom, a light, fresh palate with layers of light sweetness overlaying fresh, spring fruit flavors.

This shows the Ress touch, with its freshness and lightness. But the fruit flavors are attractively forward. There are flavors of red currants and white peaches. The texture is crisp, with layers of acidity and with the sweetness of fresh apricots. The aftertaste is fresh and refreshing, despite the sweetness.

Powerful aromas of honeyed botrytis come leaping from the glass. This is a concentrated wine, with layers of dry botrytis flavors and fresh, floral honey. There's plenty of richness, but also a lightness of touch which makes it appealing.

From one of the top Hattenheim vineyards, this stunning wine has flavors of sweet apricots and ripe summer fruits overlay botrytis and dryness. The freshness and ripeness of the fruit is what gives this wine its flavor and attraction.

Something of a disappointment from a top producer. The wine has rustic aromas and flavors which hide the obvious potential. There are hints of quince flavors and acidity, which could well make the wine come good.
