A tightly herbaceous wine initially, which opens out to give grassy, grapefruit and green plum skin flavors. Acids are high, but work to add freshness rather than overwhelm. There’s a delicious fresh, currant and green fruit flavor on the finish.

Decent, simple, introductory-level Merlot. Light cherry and plum aromas, with berry and chocolate flavors. Mouthfeel is OK; finish is clean, but a touch more green and tart than expected.

Closed and tight, this wine takes a while to reveal its ripe pear and apricot flavors. It is rich, but keeps its freshness very much to the fore. Lemon zest and tangerine fruits give acidity, which is rounded out by a spicy, lightly toasty aftertaste.

A pleasing, simple Chardonnay. Mild tropical fruit and herbs mark the nose. Fruit is of medium weight, a little soft, even fat. Has decent body; flavors are just a little indistinct.

Faintly aromatic, this is off-dry Vouvray, its white currant and cranberry flavors lifted by some spicy pear. It is clean, with simple acidity boosting the sweetness and leaving an easy, fresh aftertaste.

Ripe, sweet wine, flavored with sweet spices, pears and dried apricots. It has just a hint of botrytis, more of sweetness and attractive richness. There is light acidity, which gives a final lift.

Attractive ripe black fruit aromas with faint earthy note in background. Soft tannins. Lots of black cherry flavors with notes of leather and black pepper adding some complexity. Modern, easy drinking and perfect for a summer barbeque.

Ripe, rich wine from a great Sauternes year. It has sweetness, but this is tempered with a fine layer of dry botrytis, dried fruits and nutmeg. The texture opens out to a fresh finish.

The aromas of white pepper and blackberry fruit are simple but enjoyable. The black plum flavors mix with char and more spice to finish juicy and pleasant. A good by-the-glass red.

Easy does it with this pleasantly sippable Cab, which has lots to like. It's smooth and velvety in the mouth, and the soft texture carries nice flavors of blackberries that have been pureed into a creamy pulp. Finishes dry and a little tannic.
