While ordinarily I might not report on this wine, I found the fact that this wine had survived worth a mention. Served at the Epstein’s Thanksgiving celebration the first steps were dubious, as the cork crumbled and the wine was definitely brown at the edges; the nose, however, was fine and in fact more Burgundian than not with black cherry and earth aromas; sweet and ripe in the mouth, the wine was alive; lots of sweetness although not much depth was not surprising; the finish was smooth and ripe, but the lingering taste of sugar suggests to me that the wine was liberally chapitalized, explaining how it survived. (14.5/20)
