The 200 growers who are members of the Beaumont des Crayères cooperative are all based in and around Epernay have the choice of great Chardonnay, which makes up 60% of this prestige cuvée. Full-bodied, toasty and now mature, it is is full of vanilla and honey flavors. This is a fine food wine, with its weight, its richness and its finishing acidity.

While it is relatively soft, a product of the 1999 vintage, this wine still has great style. With its still fresh grapefruit, white currant and floral character, it has youth. At the same time, there is the beginning of maturity showing through in some toastiness. It is ready to drink now.

This is a ripe, soft wine that still tastes young and fresh. The palate is smooth, with a fine citrus zing on the clean finish. Drink now, or keep for two to three years. Available in 2007.

With its deep pink color, this wine enjoys a fresh strawberry flavor, with some sweetness and a fruit candy freshness. In the mouth, it is full, the mousse is tight and the acidity is not completely balanced with the fruit, which will almost certainly need more time to blend together.

This Blanc de Noirs (made exclusively from red grapes) has a classic full-bodied character, making it a food Champagne. Its acidity is pushed forward by berries, white currants, freshness and richness. The texture shows an edge of bitter almonds and orange zest.

A delicious, full, creamy wine, the mousse just filling the mouth. It is well balanced, some toasty fruits going with the flavors of grapefruit and apricot. The wine has an impressively taut texture, bringing the promise of some aging potential.

Aromas of red berries and summer flowers lead easily into a palate of soft, creamy fruit. The wine is simple, pleasant, a celebratory rosé. If it lacks great character, it does hang together well, leaving a fresh aftertaste.

With its dry style, this is a serious Champagne, austere and mineral, with grapefruit and very fresh fruits layered with a taut structure. It also shows some bottle age, giving a good nut and toast character.

Big and creamy, this nonvintage Brut from Beaumont des Crayères is a delicious wine. It fills the mouth with great white pear and currant fruits and finely integrated softness. A rich style of Champagne.

A fine, mature, light and poised wine which is great for an aperitif. The blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir is fresh, floral, just a touch toasty. Great balance from one of the top wines from this excellent cooperative.
