This bottle directly from the Bouchard cellars was impeccable; very sweet and ripe nose, loaded with aromas of ripened black fruits, touch of dark chocolate, spices and the presence of red earth; sweet and ripe in the mouth; good concentration if not sharpness; lots of sweet ripe fruit, mostly black cherries with some plum and crabapple notes; focused and fresh; long finish with smooth silky textures; real character and expression in this wine; superb finish and more like a Côte de Nuits. Sweet, creamy aromas, black cherries and earth, sweet and intense with deeply layered aromas, hints of smoke; sweet and smooth in the mouth; lots of flavors here that mix it up on the palate, licorice, cherries, plums, spices; earthen with lots of dry tannins that may begin to overpower the fruit in the next few years; good balance, though perhaps a bit thin to compete with the higher ranked wines.
