Pours as viscous as motor oil, and has the most beautiful amber sheen. Smells explosive and fantastic, with white chocolate, nougat, crème brûlée, anisette and Kahlúa, and turns classically rich in the mouth. The flavors are enormous, and very sweet, but what’s most impressive is the texture—sheer velvet with perfect, bright acid. —S.H.

A delicious fruit-forward Port-style wine. It has a rich, silky texture, with concentrated, lingering fruit leading to a long and hugely satisfying finish.

Another delicious sweetie from Australia, made in a decidedly dusty, tawny style, with ripe, long-lasting fruit. A pure pleasure on the palate.

A nutty wine with brilliant fruit, made in a lighter tawny style. The wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Muscat, has a medium finish with a touch of dark plum at the end. Best Buy.
