An intriguing wine, one that balances aromas of peaches and spring flowers with minerally, oily flavors. It’s fairly full-bodied, with a suggestion of oiliness to its texture as well. Finishes long and close to dry.

Complex and minerally, with hints of honey and powdered stone layered over ripe apples and peaches. It’s medium-weight yet powerfully structured—ample acidity offsets the honeyed fruit. Picks up nuances of allspice and cinnamon on the lingering finish.

Starts off with an overpowering scent of burnt matchstick, but with determined swirling, some lemon curd and green apple aromas emerge. It's light to medium in body and rounded rather than crisp, with citrus and apple flavors that turn minerally on the finish.

On the full-bodied side, with pear, melon and white peach aromas and flavors that finish in a flurry of spice and mineral. Has the weight to stand up to roast chicken with Indian seasonings, just don’t go too spicy, as this dry wine lacks the sugar to combat the heat. Imported by Magellan Wine Imports.

Surprisingly taut and fresh for a 2005, this spätlese starts off a bit leesy and smoky, then opens up to reveal pear, melon and spice flavors. Shows great verve and energy on the citrusy finish.
