From the Valpantena area, or the easternmost stretch of the Valpolicella wine zone, comes this very approachable and well-priced Ripasso from the historic Bertani winery. Aromas here include bresaola, smoked bacon, ripe fruit, plums, prunes and mesquite wood. The wine is more subtle and elegant in the mouth and ends with a playful touch of cracked black pepper.

This blend of 65% Chardonnay and 35% of the Soave grape Garganega is aged in French oak for 10 months. The result is rich, spicy and toasty, with soft vanilla flavors and concentrated green plum and almond flavors from the fruit.

Sereole is a clean and linear Soave with aromas of wildflower, talc powder and honeysuckle. The wine does show a silky texture with a crisp, citrusy close.

Try this beautiful wine in order to understand how Amarone evolves and becomes more sophisticated with age. The aromas here are thick and penetrating with tones of dried fruit, cherry preserves, cola and resin. The mouthfeel is deep and concentrated and the finish is impressively long. A true classic.

Here is a beautifully aged Amarone that shows profound grace and elegance on all levels. The nose is expertly weaved with cherry, licorice, white truffle, caramel and butterscotch nuances. A tight, fine grain texture characterizes the mouthfeel, and bolsters the wine’s enormous intensity and persistency of flavor. It is aged six years in oak casks.

Smooth, toasty and solid even if it doesn’t offer any one particular thing that will sear into your memory. The bouquet is toasty and fruity, with a bit of cedar. The mouth offers cherry, berry and chocolate, the standard three of Amarone. Finishes steady, with some size.

Dry and maturing, with aromatic notes of tea, toast, cherry and earth. Not a ton of complexity or layering here. Instead it’s straightforward and lean, with a hint of saline to the finish.
