This wine is rock solid and well worth a go. The nose is smoky, rubbery and full of fruit. In the mouth, vanilla softens and supports pure plum and cherry flavors. Mouthfilling and balanced. If only all value wines were this well made. Imported by Dylain Produce, LLC.

Heavy and flat, with dull apple aromas. The palate delivers simple yellow fruit, while the finish is soft and devoid of spunk. There isn’t a whole lot more to say about this wine; it’s a cipher.

Sweet to the nose, with caramel and green bean aromas vying with the fruit notes. More green interjects itself into the flavor profile, while some okay caramel pops up on the warm, clinging finish. Good texture and feel, but not quite right in terms of flavor.

Fat and vegetal, with a lactic ring to the nose. Flavors of cough syrup and boysenberry border on cloying, while the finish is burnt and leathery. Too heavy for its own good.

Candied caramel and milk chocolate aromas are the result of an oaking program gone wrong. The wine is so thick and overdone that it tastes like carob.

Deep, rich and gaudy, with a few exotic aromatic notes that create interest. The palate is round and ripe, with clean berry fruit. The finish, while flimsy and somewhat hollow at its center, is chewy and sweet. —M.S.

Cheese is the overriding note on the nose, that and some maple. Black fruit softens the palate, which doesn’t seem 100% ripe. And the finish is fairly bland. Clean but dull; decent but unexciting. —M.S.

“Roble” means oak, but there isn’t much positive oak to this low-impact wine that smells of green herbs and animal hide. Some tart pie cherry fruit seems adequate at first, but it doesn’t hold on for long. Thin, tart and angular. –M.S.

Spicy and smooth on the nose, with piquant hints to the plum-styled fruit. The palate boasts cherry and plum accented by ample but balanced oak spice. Some buttery wood notes are evident on the long, layered finish. Seemingly well made and modern, and a nice example of affordable Malbec. Best Buy. —M.S.

Cherry and vanilla aromas set the stage for this clean, bold Syrah that delivers tasty raspberry and cherry fruit. The finish is smooth and textured, yet not terribly tannic. It’s a complete wine that offers a lot for the price. Best Buy. —M.S.
