For all its heft, and this is a heavyweight Chardonnay, it never loses its balance and harmony. Bigtime tropical fruit and spicy fig flavors are wrapped in succulently sweet, smoky oak. The creamy texture and long, rich finish make this a great wine.

Ripe, smooth and delicious, this Cab offers tiers of blackberry jam, plum sauce, chocolate, licorice and oaky spice flavors. It’s so soft, so beguiling, and despite the fruity power it’s elegantly structured. A wine to savor as it warms in the glass. It wears its high alcohol well.

Made solidly in the Californian style, a ripe, soft, direct wine that attempts to seduce the palate with big fruit and oak and a velvety smooth mouthfeel. The blackberry jam, cherry cola and toasty flavors are tasty. Drink now.

The winery has a mixed record with Cabernet and this release doesn't advance the cause. It's sharp in acids, with stalky, green notes, and the thinness of flavor accentuates the tannins, making them astringent.

This is one of those Chards that’s more Burgundian than Californian. There’s a rich earthiness followed by a minerally date nut, dried pineapple and spiced apple character. In the end, there’s enough acidity to suggest mid-term aging.

This Cab has been variable over the years, but ’02 is a wine to like for its lush flavors and overall balance. It’s a superripe wine, chockablock with chocolate, crème de cassis and oaky flavors. Drink now.

Considerably plumper and richer than this winery’s Camelback bottling, and the burst of tropical fruit flavors fills the mouth. It’s nicely accompanied by good acids, and the oak is enormous. Finishes with a buttery, creamy, oaky feel.

Nearly five years of aging has not helped this wine. It’s hot and awkward, with low acids and an herbal edge to the blackberry fruit.

Starts off with a musty aroma that decanting should take care of. In the mouth, this Cab tastes good. It’s sweetish-dry and very smooth, with rich cherry and blackberry flavors that veer into chocolate.
