High in residual sugar this is a sweet white that is almost too generous with its notes of exotic fruit and candied peach. Beyond those obvious tones is an interesting aromatic layer of vanilla and crème caramel.

Here’s a sweet white wine (the term Amabile refers to the high sugar content) that opens with compelling notes of honey, acacia flower, peach and yellow candy. It’s hard to imagine what to pair it with: It could either go with fruit salad or salty crackers with cheese.

Packaged in a handsome bottle with an embossed viper on the front, this blend of Merlot, Sangiovese (with a small percentage of Montepulciano for extra power and intensity) offers easy sensations of ripe fruit and exotic spice. The low price makes it even more attractive.

Bigi offers a well-priced blend of Grechetto and Chardonnay that does a nice job of playing up the qualities of both grapes. The Grechetto, a native variety from central Italy, offers freshness and aromas of herbs and citrus. The Chardonnay offers body and density.

Est! Est!! Est!!! takes its name from an ancient legend in which a bishop desired some good wine on his travels to Rome. In Montefiascone, his servant found wine so good he wrote Est (“It is”) three times to alert his master. This blend of white grapes is light, informal and very welcoming.
