Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit heavy and thick, but there’s a whole lot of interesting jammy blackberry and currant flavor, intertwined with coffee, chocolate and herbs. Finishes with a prickly, peppery hotness.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An offshoot of the Talley winery, Bishop’s Peak wines typically represent fine value, and this Syrah is no exception. Charred meat, marinade and coffee mark the nose, while the flavors are on the meaty, savory side but feature just enough lush blackberry fruit to carry them. Ready to drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit old for an inexpensive Chard, but the wine is still fresh and fruity, displaying apple and pear flavors that have a thick overlay of oak. Flavor, not finesse, is what you get at this fair price.

Very acidic now, actually with a bit of spritz underscoring apple flavors. Very dry, with a bit of oak influence. The finish is tart and bitter, with the taste of pepper and apple. —S.H.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A young, fresh, juicy wine, filled with the tart, sharp acids of youth. Jammy flavors of black raspberries and cherries drink pure and strong in this simple, one-dimensional Syrah. —S.H.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows all the qualities of a fine Edna Valley Chard, from the juicy acids to the laser pure lime and nectarine flavors. It’s thinned down from the better stuff, but still, not bad.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This second label from Talley is proving to be a good source of less expensive wines from the region. This Syrah is dry and fruity, with firm acids and weighty, but finely grained, tannins. It’s a little light on the finish, but pleasant.

Ripe and juicy, with pineapple, pear, apricot, vanilla and buttered toast flavors. This is a nice everyday Chardonnay. From Talley.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This dry, country-style Cab has some sharp, green tannins that bring astringency to the blackberry, cherry and cola flavors. Will go fine with a cheeseburger.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a seriously good wine and how the parent company, Talley, sells it at this price is a miracle. Smells grandly Rhoniste, with a burst of white pepper, blackberry and leather. It doesn’t have the density of a supreme wine, but this great value showcases Central Coast Syrah.
