Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smells great, with smoke, pie crust and black pepper accenting rich blueberry fruit. But in the mouth, the nuances get muddled in the huge blackberry and blueberry fruit. Rich through the middle palate, it drops off a bit on the short, warm finish.

This Cabernet-Shiraz blend offers up mocha, espresso and humus on the nose while the palate has some nice coconut flavor that is hemmed in a bit by a note of model glue. The spicy finish ends with a soft kiss of tannin. Best to drink now, after giving it some air.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smoky and caramelly at first, but there are also plenty of tart cherries and some herbal notes. Smooth enough in the mouth, this medium-bodied Cab finishes with dark chocolate flavors framing tangy cherry fruit. Drink now–2012.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Bold and powerful, Bleasdale’s Malbec stands up to some of the best Argentine and French examples of Malbec, delivering plum and cassis flavors tinged with mint and vanilla. It’s not very elegant or long, but it packs in the flavor.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Despite this wine’s heady 14.9% alcohol level, it comes across as only medium-bodied. But the alcohol does show in the warm, slightly boozy and liqueur-like blackberry and chocolate aromas and flavors. Hints of licorice and charcoal add interest. —J.C.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Expressive yet balanced, with pronounced cedar and cigar box scents that fold into a tight palate of toffee, raspberry and blueberry pie. There’s a lingering boysenberry note on the mouthwatering finish. Great choice for game in a fruit sauce. Drinking well now but will keep several years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
After spending 15 months in American oak, this wine shows plenty of vanilla and maple syrup shadings alongside cola, earth and leathery notes. It's pleasantly full-bodied, with soft tannins, but also a rather tart, tangy finish. Drink now.
