Light stemmy aromas kick it off in a semigreen, moderately raw direction. The palate has a good feel to it despite some heat, and the red fruit palate shows mild sharpness and angularity. Somewhat raw and clacky on the finish, but in this price range it’s about average.

Weird, green, spicy and odd smelling, with hard, green raisiny flavors and an herbal finish. Barely acceptable; not varietally sound or interesting.

Brawny and stout all the way through, but also kind of green and candied, with herbal aromas in front of a grainy, tough palate feel that tries but ultimately fails to excite. Tastes jammy but also stemmy, with light medicinal notes to the finish.

Yellowing in color and smelling waxy and peachy. This has become fleshy and sweet, with a syrupy feel. Drink it now or wait for a fresher vintage.

Slightly spiky and prickly on the nose, with lightly herbal aromatic accents and flavors. The palate is chunky and just full enough, with some heat and lots of drive. Juicy, forward and solid, with a bit of herbal character. A good wine that will please those not applying too much scrutiny.

Opens with classy, focused leather, herb, spice and black-fruit aromas that are full but not aggressive. Juicy and fresh, wtih cherry, cassis, and raspberry flavors. Revs up and picks up steam on the finish, and the higher acidity level says age it, which isn’t so common for Malbec. Drink now through 2016.
