Plenty of intense new oak sets the nose in a direction toward mint, licorice and black pepper. And that’s all good, because the palate backs it up with prime blackberry and cassis flavors. This is a solid wine with slightly pronounced acids and tannins. Not for those averse to a little grab and kick.
