Clean, fresh and simple. Gran Feudo will neither thrill nor disappoint as it delivers adequate citrus, raspberry and rhubarb flavors propelled by choppy, stinging acids. It shows a good attack before breaking up on the finish. A can’t-fail rosé for the summer and fall of 2008.

Matchstick, mushroom and licorice nib aromas add character to this fading but textured wine that struggles to offer peach and nectarine flavors. Expect additional softness with each passing month, and along the way you should only hope to salvage some citrus, white chocolate and melon notes.

A modern, ripe, full-bodied Chardonnay that sports an Australian personality and a bright gold luster. It’s richly buttered, with lemon, pineapple, green apple and cinnamon flavors. Creamy on the finish yet it holds onto its minerality. An atypical Navarran white due to its richness.

Sweet and sour aromas amount to a prickly bouquet, while the palate has some flesh as well as freshness. Nectarine and spiced apple flavors are solid but pithy, and overall the wine is good but lacks concentration. Good for everyday quaffing.

Tightly wound and acidic, with forceful red-berry flavors that are spicy and zesty. Finishes a little on the raw side, with cranberry notes and a hard crescendo. Tempranillo with Garnacha and Cabernet.

This Chard has viscous, resiny mouthfeel, with pear, yellow fruit and almond butter flavors. It’s aged on lees in second-year, French oak barrels, which explains the nuttiness on the nose and the lingering finish.

Offers mealy, white-peach and melon notes from beginning to end. Mouthfeel is full and rich, even custardy, and turns powdery on the long finish. Comprised of three different Chardonnay clones. Hold 1–2 years.

Made, according to Fernando Chivite, “in the Barsac way of winemaking,” this Muscat is at once seductive and restrained. It’s viscous, but is the farthest thing from syrupy; its honeysuckle, jasmine, beeswax and sugarcane flavors are as close as you’ll get to ambrosia for a long time to come.

For years this wine was a big-time bargain from Navarra. Now it’s not so inexpensive yet the quality is the same. There’s common nectarine and raspberry aromas before snappy peach and berry flavors. It’s juicy and modest, with crispness and a drying finish.

A masterful mixture of Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of wood smoke, blackberry and plum. An open wine for near-term drinking. Sweet and rich at the core, while pure cacao darkens the tail end.
