Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A gutsy blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot. Opens with full-tilt jammy fruit, leading to a middle with good structure and tannins. The finish is fairly long, with intense spice and fruit.

You look for a slightly rustic, untamed quality in Sierra Foothills Zin, and find it in this delightful wine. The fruit is ripe and friendly, and it’s easy-drinking and dry, with plenty of appeal.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s lots to like in this easy drinking wine, although it’s a bit pricy for the quality. Tasters found the fruity flavors light but tasty, while the tannins are not a problem. It’s also an oaky wine, but the smooth, gentle texture is pleasant.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lots of black cherry fruit, with notes of dry, dusty earth and truffle, and a strong cola element. It’s very dry and supple, a wine of character. The fruity flavors are rich, and the tannins are soft and rounded.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tar and cherries in the nose, and the follow-through shows thick, ripe, sweet cherry fruit with some dark, tarry underpinnings. Good concentration and a long finish. There is 11% Petite Sirah, which adds color and depth.

Thick, chewy, cherry fruit, with lots of wood behind it. Simple, forward and quite pleasant, without pretension.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
If anyone can succeed with Pinot in the warmish Sierra Foothills, it’s pioneering Boeger. This effort is a good start. It’s correctly light and silky, with red cherry, espresso, cherry tomato and crushed hard spice aromas and flavors. All they need to do is put some depth and complexity in, and they’ll have a winner. —S.H.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is Boeger’s first Pinot, and it’s a good beginning. It’s fairly straightforward, with bright cherry-berry fruit, good balance and a lingering finish. Boeger is planting more Pinot Noir, which is a good thing.
