This blend of Viognier, Syrah and Mourvedre begins with a spicy but floral nose and is followed by ripe, forward fruit backed by black pepper and spice elements. Interesting and layered, the wine is affordable and ideal for everyday sipping.

Very ripe and powerful, this Cabernet is built for aging. Dry, firm tannins overlay cassis and herbal flavors, while cedar and toast aromas come from new French wood aging. Sourced from a top Franschhoek Valley vineyard, this is impressive.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Young, vibrant fruit dominates this dense, ripe wine. Not as powerful as the 2003, this shows elegance and some restraint, but there is still a punch of rich black currant, dark plum and coffee flavors. Expect to cellar this wine for at least six years.

There’s ample cherry fruit in this simple, juicy, tasty red from Boekenhoutskloof. The soft, ripe feel will be a crowd pleaser, and slight hints of funkiness are positive here, preventing this from being just another bland blend. Closes drier, showing its Rhônish roots with slight herb-metal notes and modest tannins.

A gorgeous wine that showcases the greatness Sémillon has to offer. Green apple, pear and stone fruit all abound on the nose, with interesting notes of yellow flowers and soft toast adding depth to the bouquet. Orange citrus and well-integrated oak notes flesh out in the mouth and linger.

Concentrated black fruit aromas with a cedary spin start this classy, ageable Cab from Marc Kent. On the palate, leather, mocha and big berry flavors have a masculine, serious edge. A bit chewy but very good balance and finish. Pair with grilled meat, game dishes.

This earthy Syrah starts with mint and tobacco aromas and on the palate, spice, pepper and cigarbox flavors are restrained and elegant. Good tannic structure and balanced acids give the wine class. A touch of smoke on the finish adds to the serious nature of the wine.
