Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This popular brand in Portugal is easy, light and fresh, with a touch of sweetness. It has red berries and easy flavors, but also an uncomfortable streak of rusticity. —R.V.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A firmly structured wine, showing dark black fruits and a very mineral texture. The tannins are chalky, dusty, chewy. Along with all this tight structure, rich fruits are waiting underneath. Give it 4–5 years.

Very dark-colored wine, this has rustic aromas followed by smooth, ripe fruit flavors. It has spice, rich tannins and acidity. The dark fruits go with a firm final structure.

With its blend of Encruzado and Malvasia, this is an attractively perfumed wine. It has a rich feel to it, an oily texture, rounded and full-bodiedm with honey, white pear and almond flavors. Drink now or age for another year.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
While it is certainly rich, this wine is also finely balanced, elegant almost. The dusty tannins curl around the dark fruits, freshened by sweet acidity. It is powerful and concentrated, with some spice from new wood. An impressive wine, worth aging for two more years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This familiar brand of Vinho Verde has long been in a sweeter style. But this latest vintage seems to have brought out the fresh, crisp fruits, and pushed back the sweetness. The result is a delicious summer apéritif style that leaves a clean, light taste in the mouth.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Over-floral and overperfumed aromas lead to a Port that is lean, with rather too many green flavors. The dry tannins are too much for the fruit. Imported by Aidil Wines & Liquor Inc.
