Always rich and toasty, Bouchaine’s ’99 drinks bright and ripe. There are white peach and tropical fruit flavors dusted with crushed oriental spices, and the whole is framed in well-charred oak. This is a fat, lush, creamy Chardonnay, polished and satisfying. —S.H.

Light in body, with flavors of cherries, cola, mint and peppery spices, this Pinot is dry and silky. It has a sharpness through the finish that suggests a bit of unripeness or stemminess.

A pleasant, light wine, with lots of rich and refined notes of cherries, coffee and dried herbs. Silky and delicate, showing zesty acidity, this classy wine is easy to drink.

A very nice, super-drinkable Chardonnay marked by brisk, cool-climate acidity and a bracing minerality. The pineapple, peach and apple flavors have the slight herbality you often find in Napa Chardonnay.

A very pretty Pinot, and while it’s not terribly complicated or ageworthy, it’s one of those wines that goes gently with almost anything you serve it with. Dry and elegant, its flavors veer toward cherries, tobacco and herbs.

Rather short in fruit, although there are hints of candied cherry and tea. Very delicate and feminine in the mouth, with tart, crisp acidity and an elegant, clean finish. A bit light, but this is a nice food wine.

A lean, racy Chard that’s true to its Carneros roots. Zesty pear, green-apple and citrus fruit and just a hint of clove to add complexity.

There’s lots of oak on this ripe wine, which has forward tropical fruit and spice flavors and a richly creamy texture from barrel fermentation. It’s a bit simple, though.
