A fresh, light, crisp wine with some good mineral overtones layered with toast. While it doesn’t have great complexity, this is an attractive, citrusy wine that’s ready to drink now.

Fresh citrus and peach juice flavors are light, certainly not concentrated, but the wine has some pear skin spice and toast. It has crispness, poise and balance, with a delicious finale of bright acidity. Imported by Boisset America.

Although this is not a premier cru, the 19-acre En Champs vineyard has a reputation for making solid, meaty wines. This fits that bill, with its dark tannins and layers of acidity. It needs 2–3 years at least to mature.

Les Cras is a tiny, six-acre vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny. This wine from Bouchard Aîné has great fresh fruit flavors, a softness and charm that is all Chambolle. There are tannins, certainly, but they are tucked underneath the dominant fruit.

Fixin is at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, often offering good value reds. This soft, raspberry and tomato juice wine has bright acidity and freshness. The final flavor is sweeter, more jammy.

The wine offers flavors that range from sweet plum skins to hedgerow black fruits, while at the same time giving soft tannins. This is attractive Pinot Noir, though not plumbing many depths. It finishes ripe and sweet.

There is some good depth of flavor to this wine, the strawberry flavors going right through until they meet the tannic core. The acidity balances well, pushing the fruit through the dryness, leaving freshness and juicy fruits.

Pommard suits the Bouchard Aîné style. The tannins and the power, forced by the dry core, are a house signature. That said, the ripeness of 2005 also plays a part in this opulent wine. The dryness comes through more obviously, but that suggests some aging ability.

The fruit bursts out of the glass, while the supporting tannins give power and intensity to this concentrated wine. It has all the richness of 2005, backed with juicy red fruits and some vibrant acidity. Age this wine, although its generous character means you could drink it in 5 years. Not available in the U.S.

Soft and open, a little unfocused but a pleasantly ripe Chardonnay. The white fruit and acidity are well in balance in a wine that is perfectly ready to drink.
