Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Seems a bit lighter than previous vintages, but it’s still a smooth, supple, enjoyable Pinot. Suede and red cherries, chocolate and tart berries mark the aromas and flavors. Picks up some charred oak notes on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
One of the more abundant New Zealand Pinot Noirs in the U.S., Brancott’s 2007 Reserve boasts plenty of earthy, savory, sous-bois aromas and a bright cherry-cranberry core of flavor surrounded by foresty, fungal notes finishing crisp and long. Drink now–2013.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
As Brancott’s top Pinot Noir offering, this is a bit of a disappointment. The fruit is jammy and berry-like, framed by ample vanilla and caramel. It’s a satisfying, medium-bodied mouthful of oaked red, it just doesn’t show the degree of savory complexity expected at this level.

This vintage of Brancott’s Sauvignon Blanc knocks it right down the center of the fairway—clean and refreshing, marked by brisk acids. Stone fruit and melon notes abound, tinged with just the right proportion of green herbs. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Toasty, mealy and custardy on the nose, yet this wine has the stuffing to handle it, balancing all those aromas with apple, pear and lemon fruit that steers clear of the overtly tropical notes often found in Gisborne Chardonnay. Slightly long and nutty on the finish. Imported by Pernod Ricard.

Nicely concentrated, with dense fruit flavors packed into a refined package. Melon, fig and grapefruit aromas and flavors finish long, picking up hints of smoke and herbs. Imported by Pernod Ricard, USA.

Light and fresh, with modest grapefruit flavors matched by herbal notes and some flowery aromatics. Probably best as an apéritif. Imported by Pernod Ricard, USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Why the price had to jump $2 in a year that produced ample yields is a mystery, but the quality is still in the bottle from this perennial Best Buy. It’s plump in feel, with ripe citrus—orange and tangerine—accented by zippy lime and grassy notes. Could be longer on the finish, but this is still a very good value. Imported by Pernod Ricard USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Provides a good jolt of pungent and aggressively green aromas (boxwood) balanced by sweet gooseberries and passion fruit. Representative of the “New Zealand” style of Sauvignon Blanc, this is a perfect introduction to the genre for new consumers.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Has all the typical ingredients of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: tropical fruit, citrus flavors and herbal notes. What distinguishes this wine is that they’re all in relative balance, with no single element dominating. It’s simultaneously plump in the mouth, yet clean and refreshing on the finish. Imported by Pernod Ricard USA.
