Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bracing, tart Riesling, quite dry and still under 13% alcohol, this mixes green apples, fresh citrus, pineapple and unusual suggestions of clove and spice. It’s a fine follow-up to the winery’s excellent 2007 bottling, though perhaps not quite as concentrated.

Fragrant, fascinating and flat-out delicious, this is one of the top offerings of Gewürztraminer from anywhere in Oregon. Scents of rose petals, citrus oil, pine needle and lime skin pour forth; the flavors are crisply defined, elegant, lingering and in perfect balance. Technically off-dry, this has the acidity and focus to be most flexible with a wide variety of Asian foods.

A different style, that shows a strong streak of lime flavored fruit. Tart, clean and refreshing, but marching to its own drummer, it’s like a wine version of a gin and tonic.

One of the riper, fruitier Sangioveses on the market, with pronounced flavors of cherries and raspberries. It’s fully dry, with a pretty layer of smoky oak. Easy drinking, with its soft tannins and smooth mouthfeel.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
As with the other Pinots from Brandborg, this estate bottling puts the spices front and center, and matches the intensity of the fruit and barrels appropriately. This is seductive and elegant with a feminine grace. The spicy plum and red currant flavors carry some tasty barrel notes of clove and cinnamon, and the wine has a bit more intensity than its stablemates.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Here is your perfect salmon wine, light in color and offering plenty of fresh, herbal flavors along with tart currant and cranberry fruit. It does not have the color or the density of Yamhill county Pinots, but that makes it more suitable for a meal, and the herbal side of the wine is nicely matched to its juicy acids and tight tannins.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Light and aromatic, this delicate and poised wine seduces with lush aromas of cherries and baking spices. It has the elegance that only fine Pinot Noir can express. Here the subtleties have been coaxed into rich expression, with details of spice and incense and chocolate truffles adding to the lingering finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Ripe and fruity, the 2009 echoes the flavors of the previous vintage, bringing in suggestions of pear, pineapple, green banana and papaya. It’s all wrapped in a bit of alcoholic heat, but not so much as to detract from the rich fruit flavors. A solid base of acid and skin tannins gives the wine the support it needs.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Do you like lemon drop cocktails? This is a lemon drop wine —so ripe and round and sweetly lemony it could almost pass for Limoncello. Despite the almost 14% alcohol, there is some sweetness, as you might find in a late harvest wine, albeit concealed by the acidity. Rose petals and talcum powder flavors coalesce into a firm, full, fruity, slightly sweet and also quite fragrant finish.

A bit volatile and Port-y, yet it seems to lack richness and depth at the same time. The black cherry flavors are solid and the charred oak adds a welcome touch of complexity, so it’s not without some good points.
