Weighty and rich, this is a broad Pinot Gris that ideally requires a similarly rich dish as an accompaniment—perhaps a chicken or fish sauced with cream. Hints of almonds accent the melon and peach flavors, while the finish picks up hints of peppery spice and restrained minerality.

A lot of vegetal character is draped on the nose of this rather heavy, chunky offering. Green bean, sauerkraut and pickles all make a play for the lead, while the palate is full of pickled melon, pear and a touch of nuttiness. Fairly aggressive acidity keeps it alive and kicking.

Classically proportioned, with crisp acidity that balances the wine’s weight. Lime and green apple aromas set the stage, followed by hints of riper tree fruits and petrol, all the while kept focused by bright citrus flavors.

A plump, off-dry style of Gewürztraminer, Hunold’s 2004 features a bouquet that could be right out of a textbook: rose petals, lychee and a bit of ginger. This is fresh and spicy, not overblown, and without any bitterness on the finish.

A bit richer than expected, with a slightly oily mouthfeel and mineral and honey aromas. Flavors favor superripe pears, accented by subtle notes of pepper and clove, but finishing clean. Imported by Hand Picked Selections.
