Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sweet with flavors of molasses and sweet chocolate, this is for lovers of a gentler side of Port. It is full, certainly, but it glides over the palate, easily and softly.

A firmly structured wine that boasts firm, dry tannins, rich black berry and plum fruits, and a hint of wood. This is deliciously ripe, juicy, packed with warm fruit flavors, sweet and rich.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is the top Douro wine in the Burmester portfolio. It is appropriately firm, mineral, with tight black fruits and solid, dry tannins. Underneath all this is richness, but it will certainly need several years—3 to 4 at least.

A tawny style, with some dried raisin and wood-aged acidity. Essentially, though, the wine is soft and sweet in the Burmester style. Caramel flavors go with some acidity and spice, the spirit well blended into the wine.

A firm, very straightforward wine that shows dark tannins, juicy black fruits and an impressive structure. It opens well, with powered intensity and refreshing acidity that balances the richness.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With its green edge, this is not a ripe vintage wine. Certainly, the fruit is dense and sweet, but there is always the feeling of astringency, black currant juiciness that does not suggest aging.

Soft and round, with a big mouthfeel. The flavors are of fresh white fruits, very soft. There is just a touch of almonds, and some oxidation.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
In a traditional dry tannic style, dense and darkly concentrated, shot through with acidity and firm berry fruits. Chunky and powerful, worth keeping for 2–3 years.

Burmester Portuguese Red - 2007

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Initially tight and mineral, this wine then begins to show structure—fresh, toasty wood and spice. Green apple skin and melon flavors give both structure and ripeness. Think food with this wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The weight of this wine, with its yellow fruit flavors, is balanced by citrus and an edgy minerality. It is fresh, as well as full-bodied, lightly spiced, crisp acidity to finish.
