Pretty tannic and acidic, providing some bitterness and astringency to the lush blackberry, currant, leather and cola flavors that finish so dry. Could be an ager, but right now it’s on the hard, rustic side.

Rich and ripe in blackberry, pudding and chocolate flavors, with a briary, peppery edge, this mountain Zin wisely avoids both excessive alcohol and residual sugar. Sit back and enjoy the fruit.

This Zin satisfies for its fruit-forward character and smooth, gentle texture. It’s very soft for a mountain Zin, with a velvety feel that carries rich flavors of wild cherries and berries, milk chocolate, licorice and vanilla.

Everything about this Zin is fine except the sweetness. It has a lush, rich texture and delicious blackberry liqueur-infused coffee flavors with a dusting of white pepper and cocoa. Unfortunately, the finish turns sugary and cloying.

Super-fruity, a real orchard, with pineapples, apples, Meyer lemons and even something tropical, like mango. In fact, a little too sweet, almost cloying on the finish.

This is a good, tawny Port-style wine with high alcohol and chocolate cream and blackberry flavors. It’s pretty sweet, but loses a few points for an absence of richness.
