This is an idiosyncratic Malbec that you will probably love or hate. Yet we found ourselves somewhat undecided. First off, it’s sweet in the nose, barely different from Port. The beet, red plum and cassis flavors are forward but awkward, and overall it seems like a confection. Think chocolate-covered frozen bananas from the county fair.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Eight months in French and American oak has left a strong barrel influence on this wine, which features a heavily charred nose before a palate of cassis, cherry and rhubarb. The oak is powerful toward the end, manifesting itself in the flavors of molasses and coffee. A sturdy structure and a solid core of fruit are the high points.
