Deep aromatic nose with rich fruit, black fruits, tar, smoke, licorice, hints of earth; smooth and ripe in the mouth but a touch flat and dilute; seems to lack a little depth of flavor; sweet fruit and ripe blackberry and raspberry flavors; medium finish, solid tannins; good but not great. (17/20)

Big nose with classic California aromas; lots of cracked black pepper at the start, then mixing more with sweet fruit, very ripe blackberry, black plum aromas, hints of rubber, tar and licorice; deep and rich in the mouth, but very young and tight now; lots of dry tannins that have not integrated producing very dry flavors; cranberries and quince; long finish; powerful wine and will be much more enjoyable in a few years.
