Touriga Francesa is one of the grapes used in Port production, but this is a dry table-wine version that comes across as a jammy fruit bomb, with blackberry preserves and a hint of cracked pepper. Medium weight, with good balance, the wine finishes dry, with firm but ripe tannins. Solid now, may be better with a couple of years’ cellaring.

Smells of baking spices like vanilla and cinnamon, but there’s also a dusty, earthy note. Simple flavors of black plum finish dry, with hints of cement dust and a resinous, sappy edge.

Some slightly sappy elements mingle with cinnamon and blackberries in the aromas of this complex red. Anise and cherry flavors appear on the palate, along with mild bitter chocolate on the finish. Lots of interesting things here in this medium-weight, food-friendly wine.

Meaty, dense and smoky, with a touch of mushroom up front. This was a good vintage for the Douro, and here you get some deep plum and berries along with ample oak and full tannins. Only a little sourness at the core and a slightly hot finish hold it back.

Very dark in color, this is an impressive wine with power and dense tannins. The fruit is solid, packed with blackberry and dark plum flavors, and wild, almost savage, ripeness.
