Gamy spice and smooth tannins recommend this affordable Merlot to drinkers who enjoy softer flavors and an elegant, integrated style. It's approachable and a great food pairing wine as well--think veal shank, cioppino or a salad with duck breast.

This has some delicious heft in the nose, with all of the tropical, citric notes desired in a Sauv Blanc, but on the palate it’s clunky. The mouthfeel is overly viscous, weighing down the lively flavors beneath. Needs more complexity, but at the same time, a lighter touch.
