Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Capichera is definitely specialized in white wines (especially those made from the Vermentino variety), but this luminous Carignano also shows a deft winemaking hand. There’s beautiful spice here with a fresh and buoyant quality of fruit.

Here’s a unfiltered oak-aged Vermentino (it spends three years in wood) with a slight haze to its appearance and superrich aromas of mature fruit and honey. The wine is elegant and dense and will reward you with an unforgettable experience.

Late-harvest, with beautiful luminosity and aromas of stone peach, apricot, vanilla and light toast. Bright acidity leaves the palate clean and refreshed. With 5.3 grams of residual sugar, you’ll also taste its perky sweetness.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Chocolate, cherry, blackberry and clove linger long on the nose and open the door to more layered nuances of ripe red fruit to come. This is a sun-kissed wine with plush softness, dusty tannins and a sophisticated personality shaped by 18 months of wood aging in barrique and oak casks.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Sardinian white is a ripe, sun-baked heavyweight, but in a good way. Plump, with lemon-curd aromas; the flavors are sweet and sugary at first, but later turn to complex apple, citrus, pineapple and star anise. Great body, but on the low-acid, soft side. Drink now.

Flush on the nose and loaded with leather, earth and spicy plum fruit. The palate is warm and saturated with all sorts of berries framed by genuine, appropriate tannins. Then on the finish it turns smoky and coffee-like. Simply an excellent, juicy, satisfying red wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is an intense and ever so slightly oxidized wine with aromas of yellow rose, resin and nut. A small percentage of the wine (90% Vermentino and 10% Chardonnay) is aged in oak, resulting in very good structure and persistency.
