Made in an off-dry, almost sweet style, this polished Riesling is marked first and foremost by ripe fruit. Green apples, tangerines, Key lime pie and golden mangoes flood the mouth, made bright and clean with citrusy acidity. The alcohol is a refreshingly low 13%.

This is an everyday Pinot, with some classy features. It’s silky and elegant in the mouth, with good acidity. The raspberry and cherry flavors are one-dimensional and sweet.

This bottling seems to be getting sweeter over the past vintages. The ’08 is distinctly sugary, with jammy orange and lime flavors. It’s cloying after the first sip.

A sweet Pinot Noir, soft and rich in pie-filling raspberry and cherry fruit flavors, with a coating of smoky oak. It’s clean and precise and delicious, a wine to drink now with a nice steak or chop.

A winning combination of pear, apple, ripe melon and butterscotch flavors, spiked with spicy clove and tart citrus accents. Lavishly oaked for a mid-weight wine, there’s sufficient depth of fruit here to support the wood, and the elements mesh and hold nicely. An easy, lush mouthfeel means it’s best enjoyed over the next year or so—if you can keep it around that long.

Has most of the elements of a fine Monterey Chard. Keen acids and a lively, clean finish stimulate the tastebuds. The problem is a lack of fruit. The wine teases with peaches, then pulls back and fails to deliver.

The appellation is a distinct bench on the west side of the Salinas Valley, and this fine Pinot has benefited from the cool winds and long hang time. Marked by bright acidity and intense cherry, cola and spice flavors, it’s a dry, rich wine, with a silky texture and enough complexity to age through this decade.

A nice everyday Pinot that shows plenty of the kind of character you want in this variety. It’s dry and silky and medium-bodied, with subtle, fairly tannic cherry, raspberry, root beer and pepper flavors.
