Fresh, with leafy, woody aromas and tastes. Not overpumped but grapey; big-boned but not muscular. Overtly plummy with a subtle red-licorice component. What it lacks in finesse is compensated for by friendly tannins and approachability.

Odd notes prevail from the herb, mint and somewhat medicinal nose. Apple juice and an almost almondy, sherry quality on the palate. Disjointed and weak.

Very good and savory, athough it’s a bit heavy for a Pinot Noir, with a soft, thick texture and ultraripe chocolate, cherry liqueur and cappuccino flavors. Who wouldn’t like that? But the wine could be crisper, more delicate and refined.

Red berries, cocoa, vanilla and tea grace the nose of this easy drinker. The palate is fruity but balanced, offering some strawberry, cherry and plum—a mixed bag of red fruits.

The apple and pear flavors drink a little on the sweet side, as if a teaspoon of cane sugar were dissolved in the glass. There’s also a lot of oak that brings smoky vanilla notes.

Rich in the nose, with smoke, toast, chocolate and licorice aromas. The palate is quite fruity, as it’s dominated exclusively by black fruit with only a slight hint of mocha. The finish is creamy if a bit on the warm side. Editors’ Choice.

Cola and root beer at first, but after that the dense nose is a bit closed. Rich, warm blackberry flavors offer a touch of anise, which comes across almost like black licorice. The finish is all fruit, but with a driving, racy feel spurred on by healthy acidity.

Shows a beautiful Pinotesque mouthfeel, all silk and satin, with that elegant Carneros acidity. But the flavors could be more concentrated. The cherries, cola and pomegranates feel a little watered down.

Everything has come together in this polished, approachable wine. The tannins are brisk but sweetly ripe. Oak has been fully integrated, lending smoky vanilla to the cherry and licorice flavors. Crisp Carneros acidity makes everything bright and shiny. Enjoy this Pinot now through 2010, as it gradually loses fruit.

Ripe and powerful in blackberry, cherry, cola, pomegranate fruit and vanilla oak flavors, this has a slightly sweet edge, and is also fairly tannic. Feels a little ungainly right now, as if all the parts haven’t come together. Could become better in a year or two.
