Ripe red raspberries and vanilla aromas and flavors mingle easily in this soft, slightly candied wine that’s best used as a bar pour or party wine. It goes down easy, just the ticket for the dozen beer-drinking buddies you’re introducing to decent wine.

This tawny red-colored Merlot has aromas of red berry, barbecue sauce and cedar. In the mouth, fresh-off-the-grill toasted red cherrry and raspberry notes are clocked in ashy-dry tannins. Finishes with wood. Tastes older than its years.

Soft, sweet and showing its age, it’d be best served colder than normal to accentuate its pineapple fruit and tone down the sweetness.
