Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made in a lighter, slightly more rustic and less ripe manner, with herb-infused black currant and licorice flavors. A vigorous young 100% Cab elaborated with plenty of new oak. Drink now through 2013.

This is one of the better Chenin Blancs, without the sharp medicinal flavor the variety sometimes shows. Very dry, the wine has citrus, flower and spicy melon flavors that are enriched with a touch of new oak.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Somewhat harsh and bitter in dry tannins, this wine has flavors of black cherries, tobacco and herbs. Finishes with tannic astringency, but not an ager.

St. Helena is the source of this blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Entirely unoaked, it’s a dry, crisp, rustic wine, and full-bodied for a rosé, with heavy flavors of cherry pie filling.

The wine is amazing, although if you don’t like Chenin Blanc, it’s not for you. It’s high in acid, almost sour, which makes it a beautiful wine for food, a connoisseur’s wine, a sommelier’s dream. The flavors run toward lemon drop, wild flowers and elemental things like wax and steel. Should do all sorts of interesting things as it ages. Editors’ Choice.

Cab Franc should be lighter in structure and body than Cab Sauvignon, and this wine succeeds perfectly. It’s very dry, with finely ripe, dusty tannins, and offers a wealth of cherry and herb flavors that finish long and complex. Could even pick up additional nuance with five or six years in the bottle.

A fine, savory wine, one that makes you regret that so much Chenin Blanc has been pulled from Napa Valley. It’s crisp in acidity, with complex green apple, date, jasmine tea and citrus flavors that have a little bitterness in the finish. Great with pea soup, spicy chicken sausages or a smoky ham.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From a tiny vineyard in the Oakville hills that was planted in the early 1940s and contains at least nine varieties, possibly more, this is an old-fashioned style of wine. It’s absolutely dry and quite tannic, with pronounced acidity, and has an earthy, tobacco edge to the blackberry and black cherry, plum and dark chocolate flavors.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little heavy but nonetheless pleasing, this Merlot-Cab Franc blend is dry and full-bodied for a rosé. The cherry-berry and spice flavors are offset by crisp acids and even a dusting of tannins.

Not the biggest blockbuster out there, but a dry, elegantly balanced wine made for drinking with food, not overwhelming it. Shows flavors of blackberries, black cherries, olive tapenade, dried herbs and cedar. Drink now.
