Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Thick, black and extracted, this dense Barbera d’Asti Superiore opens with intense aromas of black fruit and fresh oak. Definitely give this wine at least two more years in the bottle for those smoky wood notes to find balance. At this young stage, the wine tastes new, chewy and raw.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Heavy oak use is still evident (this wine is from the 2006 vintage so those toasted notes should be integrated by now) and takes away from the natural integrity of the fruit. Spice, tobacco and chocolate appear and the wine ends with fresh crispness.
