Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This 100% Tempranillo tinto spends a year in American oak, and it tastes it. It’s rustic, as though it’d be at its best with a heavy beefy stew. Distinctly bacony, smoky notes on the nose lead to more meatiness and smoke, plus red berries and oak, on the palate. Given its smokehouse flavors, it’s surprisingly light in the mouth. Closes with more woody flavors. —D.M.
