A wine that is dominated by firm, mineral tannins, the black fruits showing a dry, firm face, just layered with a more juicy character. This is a wine that needs to develop for another year to lessen the youthful austerity, but the wait will be worth it.

A highly perfumed but firm style of wine, the Dão tannins blended well into the juicy berry fruits. There is an old-style leather edge to the wine that is not unpleasant, but that does limit much further development.
