Green spices and herbs, pepper, light aromas by comparison to other vintages, hard and alcoholic nose; similarly light and hard in the mouth with alcoholic flavors but a shortage of fruit; big dry tannins; somewhat one-dimensional; not a bad wine, but not up to the level of the better years for this property. (14.5/20)

Typical first nose for this wine with green herbs and green pepper, then more black pepper, followed by barnyard scents, the shifting to more sweetness and depth of fruit, elegant and poised; fresh and focused with an elegant structure; always a step ahead of most of the wines from this region, this one is also well near the top of these wines; fresh blackberries and cherries; lots of tannins still and will need more time; this is not quite as good as the ’89, but pretty close. Sweet and rich nose, lots of minerals and herbs, perfumed but as with these wines, thick and dense on the nose; sweet and rich in the mouth, minerally and laced with exotic fruit flavors; silky and smooth, quite spicy; nice long finish. (16/20)
