An interesting blend of 70% syrah and 30% carignan from sixty-year old vines; big nose loaded with ripeness and intense fruit aromas, black fruits dominate but there is the characteristic presence of leather and brush aromas added by the syrah, smoke and earth round out the nose; big and powerful in the mouth, the wine has layers of ripe rich fruit held in check with powerful tannins; there is good balance with citrus fruit flavors; not an elegant wine, this is powerful and intense with good depth and a long, gripping finish.
