Always a magical wine, this bottle opens with a fabulous nose of layers of perfumed fruit, very floral, lots of sweetness reminiscent of powdered sugar, touch of the barnyard, but quickly subsumed with aromas of sweet cherry juice; sweet and fresh in the mouth with powerful flavors of perfumed fruit compote; extraordinary depth and focus, the wine still shows lots of powerful tannins that are quite tight and gripping; more citrus fruit at the end with fluid acidity framed by constraining tannins. Very sweet and rich with perfumed aromas of oleander and magnolia oil, also green herbs and spices apparent on the nose; sweet and rich in the mouth with ripe lemon and tropical fruit flavors; the mid-mouth is more lemony and citric with hot spices; then moving on to the end with more subtlety in the flavors, and the presence of dry minerals, talc; a dense and chewy wine, but also giving with powerful flavors. Opens with the forward fruit that often defines this wine, wonderful ripe blackberry and blueberry aromas, cassis and ripe fruit, soft and perfumed, exotic and rich nose; first taste is sweet and ripe, but with a lightness that signals elegance rather than weakness; nicely integrated woody tannins; lots of red cherry flavors; long, elegant finish here with an expressive style that always sets this property apart.
