Sweet aromatics of black cherries and blackberries at the beginning, becoming more earthy and tannic, dried fruits, a bit austere and simple in the mouth; good balance of fruit in the front of the mouth with black fruits and sweet red fruits; somewhat dry in the middle with a surprisingly flat set of flavors; there is a lot of unresolved tannin at this stage of development, which imparts a bitterness to the flavors; a bit coarse and undeveloped. Wonderful nose with ripe rich black fruits, cassis, seductive and sweet with smoke and earth, tannins, balanced and rich; smooth and ripe fruit-laden in the mouth; big plum and cherry flavors; very well- balanced with integrated acidity and smooth tannins; perhaps without the depth and strength of the more “famous” labels, but this is one of the best bargains in wine today; long finish, smooth and smoky with wonderful fruit.
