Deep and very sweet nose with the soft ripeness and peppery, spicy aromas that one associates with Pomerol, rich and opulent aromas of fully mature fruit; first taste in the mouth is sweet and really pleasant, but the wine can’t hold it, becoming drier and more citric in rapid steps; then there is a rebound and the focus returns with a nice mix of lemon and citrus fruit flavors that blend with sweet rich black fruits for a sweet and round wine at the end; the wine does suffer from a lack of grip though, and while finishing well for its age, it fails the fitness test at the end. Very sweet and soft nose with perfumed aromas of flowers and sweet fruits, but also with a touch of menthol and a slightly annoying soapy aroma which might have been from the glass; soft and sweet in the front of the mouth, but then turning quite dry with woody, grainy tannins; the wine does not have good balance, and seems out of sorts at the end; not bad, but disappointing. Intense nose with black fruits and black pepper at the front, with more perfume and spices later, the nose is a bit remote and distant, and does not come to you the way the ’89 does, but it has good depth and layers of aromas that include floral scents, dark chocolate, and licorice; sweet in the front of the mouth, but with an overabundance of dry, chewy tannins; there is a good dollop of cherry fruit on the palate, but the tannins are quite aggressive and dominant, and I fear that in time they will cruch the fruit; good now if a bit tannic. Sweet fruit and concentrated berry aromas, quite tight still and with a certain barnyardy character on the nose, more layers emerge later with lots of sweet fruit and spices, mostly cloves and cinnamon, smoke, this is a cerebral wine; rich and ripe in the mouth with lots of power and concentration for a Pomerol; lots of sweetness in the body of the wine with chocolate and touches of caramel; still an evolving wine, there are big, grainy tannins still in the body that will require more time.
