92-94 Barrel sample. Smooth, ripe wine, velvet texture and sweet fruits. It has structure under this smooth surface, giving some bright acidity. But the general feel is of richness, super extraction.

88-90 Barrel sample. A very dry wine that has good depth of black fig flavor and layers of sweet tannins. The wine has great structure with solid tannins and a perfumed, light, almost delicate after-taste.

91-93 Barrel sample. This is a wine where all the elements are hanging well together. The fruit is sweet, spicy, but the layer of dark tannins is impressive, dusty and going deep into the wine. The final is firm, but offers a juicy lift. A definite improvement from this property.

92-94 Powerful, very juicy in style, with toasty new wood flavors mingling with the the very ripe fruits. The wine has a bitter, extracted edge that will probably soften with further wood aging.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Definitely the lightest of Saint-Emilion’s Premiers Grand Crus in 2006, this wine aims below its station. It is attractive, perfumed, fresh, with open berry fruits. But the texture is thin and the tannins are almost mature. Not for much aging.

A wine with some density, spiced with touches of wood, dusty tannins and an open sweet plum flavor. There is plenty of wood here, layering the fruit. The wine has aging potential, worth waiting 4–5 years.

A wine that is dominated by minerality, tannins and acidity. It contains some severe characteristics yet is leaner than some others in Saint-Emilion. Still, there is aging potential.
