This is a dark wine, perhaps more elegant than powerful. The currant fruit flavors drive through with prominent acidity, trailing tight tannins and smoky wood. More weight would have been welcome.

94-96 Barrel sample. Full of tannins, this wine is big and spicy, with a certain grandeur to it. It's likely to be a very fine wine, the pure acidity and black fruits pushing through.

90-92 Pascal Dalbeck has fashioned a beautiful wine, all exotic fruits, dusty tannins and power. This will age over a very long-term.

A big, ripe, fruity wine, backed up with firm tannins. The structure is impressive, giving smoky flavors and layers of new wood. It is rich and potentially long-lasting. Under the inspired control of Pascal Dalbeck, Belair is fully living up to its classed growth status.

91–93 A solid, chunky wine, which is currently wood dominated. The fruit, though, suggests power to come.

Pascal Dalbeck has triumphed with this impressive wine, very concentrated and spicy, layering powerful dark fruits. There’s a sense of authority here, from a wine that has all the elements in the right place. Wait at least 10 years.
